Volunteer for Invasive Species Control

Volunteer for Invasive Species Control

With Meewasin Valley Authority

Help protect native grasslands by volunteering with Meewasin Valley Authority to remove European Buckthorn, an aggressive invasive shrub that threatens biodiversity. This hands-on conservation effort will involve using pruning loppers and handsaws to remove the species safely.

What to Expect:

  • Volunteers will meet at Somers Rd. & Konihowski Rd.

  • No experience required—Meewasin provides all tools and safety gloves.

  • Wear long pants (jeans, nylon, or synthetic fabrics recommended) and dress for the weather.

  • Bring a full reusable water bottle—there is no potable water or washrooms on-site.

Who Can Volunteer?

  • Open to ages 8 and up.

  • Both new and experienced volunteers are welcome.

  • If you have pruners, clippers, or loppers, feel free to bring them!

Location: Saskatoon Natural Grasslands

Time: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM CST
