Forests and Water: Is logging negatively affecting our water supply and increasing flood risk
With the Pender Harbour Wildlife Society
“The Pender Harbour Wildlife is pleased to present Dr. Younes Alila from the UBC Faculty of Forestry. Dr. Younes Alila has a Doctorate in engineering hydrology and has studied the effects of climate and land use change on water resources. Dr. Alila’s innovative research over the last 20 years has challenged the century-old paradigm on how forests affect large floods.
To provide a local perspective of this topic, Suzanne Senger, Executive Director of the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association, will discuss the SCCA’s ongoing work to protect the forested aquifer recharge areas on Mt Elphinstone South, through the West Howe Sound Watershed Protection Project. ”
