Birding on the Mudflats
With The Raincoast Education Society
Each spring, Tofino’s mudflats become a bustling rest stop for thousands of migrating shorebirds—and you’re invited to witness the action up close!
From April 28 to May 2, join the Raincoast Education Society, in partnership with BC Nature and Hotel Zed, for Birding on the Mudflats—a free, drop-in event offering guided, in-the-field interpretation of the spring migration.
Bird guide Liam Ragan will be onsite daily with spotting scopes and expert insight to help visitors of all experience levels observe the fascinating variety of shorebirds (and more!) moving through Jensen’s Bay. With incredible visibility from the birding platform behind Hotel Zed, this is one of BC’s premier locations for accessible shorebird viewing.
This is a come-as-you-are, no-cost opportunity to deepen your appreciation for the Tofino Mudflats Wildlife Management Area. Just bring your curiosity—and maybe your binoculars!
